Pre-Trip Research

Well it is just a weekend away to Interop. Today I reviewed the floor map of the Expo Hall.
http://www.interop.com/lasvegas/downloads/Interop_Las%20Vegas_2011_Expo_Guide...

It looks like some big changes on how vendors have been arranged in past years. The areas I traditionally found new vendors looks to have moved a little. Although it is hard to tell from the map, it does look like another three full days of walking and interviews for the blog. If anyone has any specific vendors they would like me to look at let me know by commenting on this specific post and I will try to add them to my list.

Just as in years past, my goal is to post live while I am at the conference so look for new posts next Tuesday - Thursday. In the off chance you are attending Interop look me up, or send me a note.

nComputing

There are two new updates to the nComputing prouct line that I am exciited about.

The new U170 is similar to their X series product with the exception that there is no PCI card needed.  USB provides the link to the host machine.  With a $99 list price this is a cost effective way to save $'s while providing additional wokstations.
An upgraded addition to the L series adds new features.  If you don't remember from previous posts the L series connect to host hardware via your Ethernet network.  With this solution a single Server can host 120+ workstations!  The L series now also has a wireless option.

Xirrus

An odd thing this year at Introp, the other big names in wireless are a no-show.

What has always impressed me about Xirrus is there wireless peforrmance at Interop.  The show floor here is a lot more difficult to provide good coveage due to the shear number of other vendors APs, and other RF inteference.  If it works here, it will work great in K12 buildings.

Watch the video for an overview on how Xirrus at Interop is configured and running. (video will be posted soon)
